MISSION BHARTIYAM CONDEMNS ATTACK ON RIGHTS ACTIVISTS Right Wing Activists Attacked SRINAGAR to IMPHAL JAN Karwan Members on 19 October at Delhi University When Karwan members were welcomed by Save Democracy Repeal AFSPA campaign and were marched at campus for public meeting.   This karwan is organized by Save Sharmila Solidarity Campaign and started its journey on 16 th Oct from Srinagar by Medha Patkar & Dr. Sandeep Pandey. PRESS RELEASE Date: 16 OCT 2011 SRINAGAR SRINAGAR to IMPHAL SAVE SHARMILA JAN KARWAN started its 4500 Km. journey to highlight Irom Sharmila’s cause, who is on hunger protest since last 10 years for her demand to repeal AFSPA. The karwan is organized by Save Sharmila Solidarity Campaign. Campaign is a joint initiative of various social organizations and movements who are extending their solidarity towards the cause. Social activists from all parts have come here at Srinagar to start the journey. Around 25 activists first went to Hazratbal to offer their prayer for peace and harmony. In Ludhiana, the activists received a warm welcome by Prof. Jagmohan Singh (a family member of Shaheed Bhagat Singh). All karwan persons and local activists marched candle light on Ludhiana road from railway station to Bhagat Singh Chowk. A public meeting was organized at this chowk. PRESS RELEASE As you already know that Save Sharmila Campaign, a joint initiative of civil societies (NAPM, Asha Parivar, Mahila Chetna Kendra, Mission Bhartiyam, Yuva Koshish, Khudai Khidmatgar, Jagriti Mahila Samiti, Sadbhavna Mission, Asian Centre of Social Studies and others) is extending its support to non violent struggle of Irom Sharmila Chanu, a lady of Manipur who is on hunger strike since the Year 2000.
