राष्ट्रीय मानवाधिकार आयोग ने मिशन भारतीयम की अपील पर मांगी रिपोर्ट 
 
बस्ती जनपद में १० मार्च को जिला कारागार में हुए गोली काण्ड पर मिशन भारतीयम ने राष्ट्रीय मानवाधिकार आयोग में शिकायत दर्ज की . ११ मार्च को दाखिल की गयी अप्पील और उस पर मानवाधिकार आयोग से बराबर संपर्क करते रहने का नतीजा हुआ की आयोग ने प्रशासन से उक्त सन्दर्भ में सुचना उपलब्ध कराये जाने को कहा. 

पीड़ित जेल कैदियों में से एक के पारिवारिक सदस्य ने भी उक्त घटना की शिकायत दर्ज की. रवि नितेश ने बस्ती जनपद के स्थानीय अखबारों का हवाला देते हुए बताया की आपातकालीन सेवाएं भी समुचित ढंग से उपलब्ध नहीं कराई गयी , यहाँ तक की अक्सीज़ंअन  मास्क भी उपलब्ध नहीं कराये जा सके . 

शिकायत की गंभीरता को देखते हुए , आयोग ने रवि नितेश की अपील को केस संख्या ७५१२/२४/१५ /२०१२ द्वारा दर्ज किया और इस सम्बन्ध में डी. जी . (कारागार ), उत्तर प्रदेश को नोटिस जारी करके रिपोर्ट प्रस्तुत करने को कहा. आयोग ने मामले की जांच स्वयं भी शुरू कर दी है. 

उक्त सन्दर्भ में मिशन भारतीयम की ओर से जारी एक विज्ञप्ति में कहा गया की मिशन भारतीयम ने कैदियों तथा बंदी रक्षकों , दोनों के ही चोटिल होने पर चिंता व्यक्त की है और साथ ही लगातार मानवाधिकार की रक्षा के लिए सभी संभव स्थानों पर अपनी प्रतिक्रिया व्यक्त की है. मिशन भारतीयम के सदस्य सुप्रीम कोर्ट के एडवोकेट संदीप मिश्र ने कहा की कैदियों पर गोली चलाना , न सिर्फ निर्ममता का परिचायक है बल्कि एक वहशीपन और भीड़ परबंधन की पुलिस की क्षमता पर प्रश्न चिन्ह  है. 

मिशन भारतीयम द्वारा हाल ही में मांगी गयी सुचना से पता चला था की जेल में क्षमता से अधिक कैदियों को रखा जा रहा है. विज्ञप्ति में बताया गया की मिशन भारतीयम व्यवस्था को सुचारू एवं शांतिपूर्ण रूप से चलाने की पक्ष धर है और इस विषय पर उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार से भी यथा संभव बात चीत प्रारंभ की जायेगी. 

संस्था ने बताया की जल्द ही कारागारों में कैदियों की दशा सुधरने के लिए अभियान भी चलाया जाएगा और यही नहीं कारागार प्रशासन को भी आने वाली समस्याओं का हल निकालने का पूरा प्रयास किया जायेगा. प्राश्निक सहयोग से कारागारों में सुधार के प्रयास किये जायेंगे जिससे भविष्य में ऐसी कोई घटना जन्म न लेने पाए .

The complainant further alleged that the victim was neither being provided adequate medicines nor was he being allowed to meet him. The complainant has requested adequate medical care of his brother and appropriate action against the guilty officials. The Commission notices that a case No. 7512/24/15/2012-AD has already been registered regarding the incident dated 10.03.2012 took place in the District Jail, Basti. Let the instant complaint be sent to the Director General (Prisons), Uttar Pradesh calling for an action taken report in the matter within four weeks, and the case file be tagged with the case No. 7512/24/15/2012-AD. NATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION (NHRC) ASKED D.G. (PRISON), UTTAR PRADESH TO SUBMIT REPORT ON A COMPLAINT FILED BY MISSION BHARTIYAM

National Human Rights Commission asked Director General (Prison), Uttar Pradesh to submit a report on the incident happened in District Prison , Basti (U.P.) where one prisoner killed because of several rounds of police firing while many other injured. 

The incident happened on 10th March 2012 and Ravi Nitesh, founder of Mission Bhartiyam, filed a complaint to NHRC alongwith news report and draft petition. On his complaint and seriousness of the issue where petitioner raised questions about not using alternative measures and misuse of power by police, NHRC accepted the complaint and registered case no. 7512/24/15/2012. meanwhile a member from victim's family also approached to NHRC on the same case and thus NHRC tagged his case alongwith already registered case by Mission Bhatiyam. 

NHRC issued a show cause notice to DG , Prison, U.P. and asked him to submit a report on the incident. NHRC transferred this case to its own investigation wing to find out reasons. 

In the press release issued by Mission Bhartiyam, it is stated that Mission Bhartiyam is continuously working to protect human rights everywhere.'  We will very soon meet and talk with officials of uttar pradesh government and to discuss such issues. We will also launch a campaign on jails because situation in this confined boundary is very tragic.' told by Sandeep Mishra, a member of Mission Bhartiyam and advocate in Supreme Court. With the RTI filed by Ravi Nitesh, on Basti jail, it is revealed that total inmates available in jail are 880 against the capacity of 480. Besides this, it is clear that conditions are worse, worse in facilities, sanitation, slow hearing process, rule of power etc etc. We will study on issues and will raise our concern alongwith solutions for betterment of inmates and jail staffs both.
